Joseph Hamilton, Minister of Labour, yesterday toured the Aurora Gold Mines Incorporated (AGM)/Zijin Mining Group to observe its mining operations.
The minister’s visit to the Region Seven mining site also provided a chance for the Ministry’s Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Department work attachment students from the University of Guyana to gain firsthand experience in the OSH field, a release from the ministry said.
He was accompanied by Senior Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Officers, Roydon Croal and Maxean Bess. Following the tour, Hamilton lauded the group for its “enormous success” in protecting workers’ safety and rights since his last visit in 2020.
