Several villages in the Moruca sub-region are the beneficiaries of a Ministry of Amerindian Affairs and United Nations (UN) donation of mini-buses, tractors, outboard engines and generators. Amerindian Affairs Minister, Pauline Sukhai and Minister of Housing and Water Collin Croal handed over the items during the Regional Toshaos and Community Democratic Council (CDC) chairperson’s conference held at the Santa Rosa Secondary School.

Karaburi and Mora villages received two buses funded by the Amerindian Affairs Ministry valued $3.7 million and $3.8 million respectively. The buses will facilitate transportation for community members, mainly children. Rincon and Koko villages were given tractors, valued $6.7 million each to enhance village operations. The Santa Rosa Village Council, comprised of councilors of all the above villages, also received a tractor.

Waramuri and Manawarin villages received a 40 horsepower boat engine and a generator each for their health facilities. The generators were donated by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), to serve as backup power sources, ensuring more efficient healthcare services in the sub-district.
