Twenty-year-old, Andra Stewart, of Fifth Street, Alberttown, Georgetown, appeared yesterday via Zoom at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Marissa Mittelholzer-Singh where he was charged with robbery under arms.

Stewart denied the charge.

On the day in question at about 22.00 hours, Naduri was riding his motorcycle heading north along Seaforth Street when Stewart and his accomplice rode up alongside and stopped in front of him. Stewart then dismounted and pulled a handgun from his waist and pointed it at Naduri who became fearful, dropped his cell phone and ran away leaving his motorcycle on the ground. Stewart picked up the phone and motorcycle and rode off heading north along Seaforth Street.

The matter was reported to the police and acting on information received, ranks went to Genip Lane, Warlock, East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, where the stolen motorcycle was recovered. They also looked for the accused in the area but he could not be found.

On May 16, police found the accused where he was told of the allegation, cautioned and later charged with the offence.

The court prosecutor did not object to bail but requested that it be granted in a substantial amount and under the condition that Stewart report to the Kitty Police Station every other Monday starting on July 31.

The magistrate concurred and bail was granted in the sum of $200,000.
