Charity fisher gets 18 months for break and enter, larceny

Ramchan Persaud, a 29-year-old fisherman of Charity Squatting Area, Essequibo Coast  has been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment for break and enter and larceny.

The police yesterday said that he had been charged with committing the offence on Samantha Layne, a 33-year-old housewife of Charity Squatting Area.

The incident occurred on the 7th of June 2023 at Charity Squatting Area.

On 24th of July 2023, the case was heard at the Charity Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Esther Sam, and the defendant appeared virtually from prison.

The defendant was called upon to lead his defence. He gave sworn testimony and was cross-examined by the Prosecutor.

Magistrate Sam found the defendant guilty of the charge, and he was sentenced to eighteen months imprisonment.
