Two gunmen rob owners, employee of Alexander St store

Two Chinese nationals and an employee were robbed during an armed attack at the Jet Chinese store located on Alexander Street, Georgetown, last Saturday afternoon.

According to a police report, the hunt is on for two unidentifiable males who wore surgical masks while committing the robbery at about 4.30 pm. Both men were armed with handguns and used a black motorcycle as their getaway vehicle. The plate number of the motorcycle is so far unknown. Posing as customers, they robbed three persons before driving off on a motorcycle.

The victims are: Xinxiang Zhuo, a 29-year-old businesswoman/co-owner who was robbed of $150,000; Yue Yuechai Ye, 53-year-old businesswoman/co-owner who was robbed of one iPhone 11 valued at $120,000, and Sally Williams, a 27-year-old sales girl who was robbed of one Samsung Galaxy S7 phone, valued $28,000.

According to Zhou, at about 4.30 pm, the two suspects entered the store posing as customers. One of the suspects went to pick up an item from a shelf while the other waited at the counter. The suspect who collected the item from the shelf then went over to the counter, and they both pulled out handguns and demanded that the victims hand over their items and cash, which they did.

The men then returned to their motorcycle, which was parked outside the store and escaped along Alexander Street. Persons in the area were questioned, but no further information was obtained.

According to the police, CCTV cameras attached to the same building captured the scene and footage was extracted. The investigation is ongoing.
