Team checks on implementation of safety recommendations at BOSAI

Last Thursday, a team which was led by the Ministry of Labour visited BOSAI Minerals Group Guyana Inc. Linden, Upper Demerara River to monitor the implementation of recommendations in the wake of the death of machine operator Neptrid Hercules.

A release from the Ministry of Labour said that the team comprised the following persons:

1. Darwin Bourne, Occupational Safety and Health Officer, Ministry of Labour

2. Peter John; Mineral Processing Engineer, Mines Department: GGMC

3. Shenika Ally for  Colis Primo: Senior Environmental Officer, EPA

4. Dawchan Nagasar: General Secretary, NAACIE

The release said that the purpose of the visit was to monitor the implementation of the recommendations which were made following the investigation of the East Montgomery Mine Reclamation Dump failure which occurred on Saturday, March 11th, 2023 and resulted in the death of Hercules.

During the visit, the release said that the monitoring team met and held discussions with the company’s representatives, and conducted a site visit to determine the progress of the implementation of the recommendations.

Monitoring visits to BOSAI will continue to ensure full compliance with the recommendations that were made, the release added.
