Siblings feud ends in death at Stewartville

A family is now left to mourn the loss of a loved one following a fatal stabbing after it was alleged that Jermaine Goring, a 35-year-old welder was stabbed by his 27-year-old brother, Frank Junior Goring on Wednesday evening at their Lot 75 B Sara Lodge, Stewartville home.

According to a police report, Jermaine had returned home from work at about 16:30, when he decided to make preparations to cast a water trestle. He asked his brother, Frank Junior, at about 19:15hrs, to help by fetching the sand to mix the cement, however the now-deceased man reproved his brother for being lazy. The situation took a violent turn when Frank Junior, allegedly resorted to punching his brother violently.

It was further stated that, the suspect, who had a knife in his possession at the time, dealt his sibling several stabs to the body, causing him to collapse to the round. He was rescued by his 60-year-old mother and 61-year-old father, Frank Goring and immediately rushed to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, where medical personnel fought to save his life. Despite their efforts, Jermaine succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. The body was transported to the Ezekiel Funeral Home, awaiting an autopsy. 

Stabroek News visited the scene and spoke with the uncle, Steve, who stated that the incident happened so fast that by the time he got there, the parents had already taken the victim to the hospital. “By the time I reach, everybody did done gone, the house and everything was open and his family had already took him to the hospital”. Neighbours reported hearing raised voices and loud commotion emanating from the residence before the tragedy struck.

News of the incident has sent shockwaves through the close-knit community, leaving neighbours and friends grappling with a mix of grief, disbelief, and sorrow. The scene was processed where the knife was retrieved. Police officials are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, while the suspect was arrested and is currently in police custody.
