Guyana male, female dominoes teams in the lead

The Guyana male and female dominoes teams were in the lead up to press time last night as the World Council of Dominoes Federations (WCDF), 19th World Domino Championships continued at the Providence National Stadium.

According to Barbara Marshall, co-ordinator of the tournament,  the Guyana male team, captained by Roberto Osbourne,  leads the three-hand competition with six points.

Not to be outdone the Guyana female, led by Amanda Singh, is leading the team three-hand competition with seven points. Marshall said matches were in progress up to press time last evening.

In the male three-hand competition the USA has four-and-one-half points while Barbados has four points and Antigua and Barbuda three-and-one-half points, said Marshall.

In the female three-hand competition, the USA and Antigua/Barbuda are tied on four points each while Barbados sits in the cellar position with three points.

In the team four-hand competition, Antigua and Barbuda and Barbados are on four points each.

Meanwhile the Pool-O-Rama competition has 27 entrants remaining of which 17 are Guyanese.

The curtain will come down on the competition Sunday with the finals of the team and Pool-O-Rama tournaments.
