Suspect in Leopold St fatal stabbing still at large – police

One week after an 18-year-old youth from Leopold Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown was stabbed to death while trying to make peace in a fight, the man suspected of carrying out the murder is still  on the run.

Noel Fraser of 101 Leopold Street was murdered last Saturday while trying to be a peacemaker.

It was reported that Fraser was at home at about 7:45 am when he heard a commotion nearby. Upon checking, he saw it was a fight involving several individuals he knew. As such he left his house with the intention of bringing a measure of calm to the situation, unfortunately however, he ended up being stabbed. After receiving the injury Fraser ran into an adjoining yard and collapsed.

The police were summoned and ranks rushed the teen to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The suspect meanwhile, ran from the scene and has not been located since. He is said to be a 25-year-old gold miner of Leopold Street, Werk-en-Rust and Georgetown and also of Tucville, Georgetown.

When contacted for an update on the matter yesterday, the police stated that the investigation remains open and the suspect is yet to be apprehended.
