LUCAS STOCK INDEX (LSI)

The Lucas Stock Index fell 0.371 percent during the second period of trading in August 2023.  A total of 32,904 shares changed hands during this trading period.  There was one Climber and three Tumblers, leading to a decline of over G$3.3B in the value of the LSI. 

The stock price of Sterling Products Limited (SPL) rose 39.623 percent on the sale of 4,735 shares, recovering what it had lost last week.

In contrast, the stock prices of Banks (DIH), Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) and Republic Bank Limited (RBL) helped to keep the value of the index in negative territory.  The biggest impact came from DIH which lost 2.750 percent on the sale of 15,339 shares.  DDL added to the decline with a loss of 0.366 percent on the sale of 525 shares while RBL fell 0.191 percent on the sale of 8,193 shares.   

In the meanwhile, the stock prices of Demerara Tobacco Company (DTC), Demerara Bank Limited (DBL) and Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (BTI) remained unchanged on the sale of 818; 595 and 2,699 shares respectively.
