Tomicka Cush, of Lot 84 Breda Street, Werk-en-Rust, George-town, appeared yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Judy Latchman to answer to the charge of larceny which she denied.

It is alleged that on August 17, at Parliament Building, Hadfield Street, Georgetown, the defendant stole money from a man while he was relieving himself.

The court heard that on the day in question, the virtual complainant was at the Stabroek Market area drinking, when he went to the western side of the Parliament Building to urinate.

The defendant approached him and began to rub her hands on his pocket while asking him if he wanted to have sex, but he responded by saying no. He then walked away and returned to where he was with the intention of purchasing another drink.  When he reached for the money in his pocket, he noticed that it was missing.

He returned to confront the defendant about stealing his money and she denied taking it. The man then reported the matter to the police who contacted the defendant. She was informed of the allegation, cautioned, and taken into police custody.

The police prosecutor had no objections to bail but requested that the defendant report to CID, Brickdam, every fortnight until the completion of the matter.

Bail was granted in the sum of $80,000.

Cush is scheduled to make her next court appearance on September 27 for statements.
