Fire caused by leaking gas cylinder hose guts Lethem bar

A fire that was caused by a leaking hose on a gas cylinder last Friday destroyed a bar at 270 Tabatinga, Lethem, Region Nine, leaving three persons homeless.

The building and contents were severely damaged by the fire, a Guyana Fire Service (GFS) release stated.

According to the release, the fire service responded to a call around 19.28 hours about a fire at the bar on Friday and units from the Lethem Fire Station responded and firefighters were able to extinguish the fire. 

As a result of the fire, three persons were left homeless while the building and its contents were severely damaged. The GFS  informed that the fire was caused by a leaking hose on a gas cylinder. Fumes came into contact with the naked flame from a lit gas stove and ignited nearby combustible materials.
