Enmore man beaten during wedding house brawl

Police are probing the beating of  a 37-year-old mechanic of Enmore, which occurred on August 26, 2023, at about 11.45 pm at 18th Street, Foulis, ECD.

Enquiries disclosed that at about 11 pm, the victim, 37-year-old Chetam Tomby, along with some friends, were at 18th Street Foulis at a wedding ceremony, imbibing when an argument ensued between Tomby and another individual  which led to a scuffle.

During the scuffle, Tomby armed himself with a beer bottle and dealt the other individual involved a lash to his shoulder, causing him to suffer injuries.

Seeing this, a male with the other individual involved in the scuffle approached 37-year-old Tomby and dealt him several lashes to his face, resulting in Tomby suffering facial injuries.

The man then  fled the scene.

The matter was reported at the Enmore Police Station, and Chetam Tomby and the individual involved in the initial scuffle were sent to seek medical attention. The suspect was later arrested and is in custody, assisting the Police with the ongoing investigation.
