Two men yesterday pleaded not guilty to an armed robbery at a Lusignan supermarket on August 29th and were granted $150,000 bail each.

Jamal Seymour, a 26-year-old carpenter of Lot 176 Campbell and Sussex streets, Albouystown, Georgetown and Ryan Goodluck, a 29-year-old vendor of Lot 928 Herstelling, East Bank Demerara, were charged with robbery under arms.

The two suspects were arrested on August 30th after CCTV images were circulated by the police.

In statement yesterday, the police said that both accused appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Rochelle Liverpool, where the charge was read to them.

They both pleaded not guilty and were granted bail in the sum of $150,000 each.

The police said that the prosecutor objected to bail on the grounds of the seriousness and prevalence of the offence, that the two accused do not live on the East Coast nor have any social activities or ties here, that there was video evidence and confession evidence and that the accused were previously charged with a matter that is pending at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court.

The statement said that the Magistrate told the Prosecutor that those were not sufficient grounds and granted bail to the two accused. The case was postponed until 2023/11/06 for report.
