‘Drunk driver’ slams into police pick-up at Providence

Richard Adams, 31, was arrested by the Police on Wednesday night after his vehicle, PVV 3157 slammed into the rear of a Guyana Police Force Pickup vehicle, damaging the rear bumper.

The incident occurred at about 11.50 pm on Providence Old Road, where the Police vehicle stopped at the junction. It was waiting to turn onto the major road (East Bank corridor) when the vehicle driven by Adams hit it from the rear.

Adams was arrested, taken to Providence Station and breathalyzed. The test showed that he had .62 micrograms of alcohol in his breath, which is above the prescribed limit.

He is in custody, assisting with the investigation. His car was lodged to be examined by a certifying officer.
