City Constable remanded over shooting of colleague, man

Fifty-four-year-old Linden Isaacs, a City Constable, appear-ed before Magistrate Rhondel Weever at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday charged with firing a gun at a colleague and her friend and he was remanded.

It is alleged that on September 19, 2023, while at the City Constabulary outpost located at Bourda, he discharged a loaded firearm at Miguel Wilson and City Constable Jammanie Saul with the intent to disfigure, disable, and cause bodily harm.

On the same day in question, it is also alleged that he assaulted Saul, causing bodily harm.

He pleaded not guilty to all three charges. The prosecution objected to bail on the ground that after Isaacs committed the act, he fled the scene, only turning himself in the following  Thursday. The prosecution also asked that he be kept in custody to prevent him from posing a danger to Saul. During the presentation of facts in this case, it was stated that Isaacs had hit Saul with the firearm on her head.

The magistrate refused bail and he was remanded until October 23, 2023.

A police report had stated that the incident occurred at around 7.15 pm while Saul and Isaacs were on duty.

Stabroek News understands that Wilson had visited Saul at her workplace and the two sat next to each other chatting.
