Joseph Gardner, Neville France, Melroy McPherson, Elliot Sinclair and Julian Clarke were among the winners when the 2023 edition of the Andrew ‘Six Head’ Lewis National Novices Championships continued on Saturday evening at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue.
Joseph Gardner of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) bested Joshua Khan of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) in their junior welterweight [60–63.5 kg] encounter.
In the featherweight [54–57 kg] segment, Neville France of the Republican GYM defeated GDF’s Ezekiel Persaud, while Melroy McPherson of GDF defeated Alex Hazel of GPF. In the bantamweight [52–54 kg] class, GPF’s Julian Clarke defeated GDF’s Wavel Massiah, while Elliot Sinclair of GDF defeated Shemar Plass of the Republican Gym in their welterweight [64–67 kg] bout.
The championship, which is staged in honor of the former world champion, who unfortunately died on May 4th, 2015, in a vehicular accident, birthed the journey of numerous of the nation’s leading premier amateur pugilists. Below is the complete list of results.
