Lopsided wins for Rosignol, Monedderlust

Host Rosignol United and Monedderlust recorded lopsided victories when the Berbice Football Association Senior Men’s League continued on Monday evening at the Community Centre ground.

Rosignol mauled Ithaca by an 8-0 score-line. Any hopes of a competitive contest were quickly dashed as the home side secured a commanding 4-0 lead at the end of a dominant first period.

DeAndre Chesney commenced the ‘gold rush’ in the 20th minute, which was followed by an Allan Garrett conversion three minutes later. Garrett made his presence felt once more in the 37th minute to complete his brace, before LaShawn Myles etched his name on the scorer’s sheet one minute onward.

The narrative of the contest continued in the second stanza, as S. Johnson got into the scoring act in the 53rd minute. Garrett then sealed his hat-trick with a 61st-minute strike to push the score to 6-0.

An own goal led to the score increasing to 7-0 in the 63rd minute, before Garson Baker etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 69th minute to seal the outcome.

Similarly, Monedderlust of No. #5 Village dismantled New Amsterdam (NA) United 5-0. Four goals in the first half sealed the lopsided result for the West Coast Berbice outfit.

Jaden Thom led the rout with a brace in the 44th and 88th minutes, while the trio of Terrence Lewis, Kevin Cottoy, and Atlin Brown found the back of the net in the 15th, 20th, and 21st minutes, respectively.  The tournament continues today at the same venue with another fixture.
