Shooter of women on Freeman St still at large – police

The man who shot two women on Freeman Street, East Ruimveldt, George-town, on September 28 is yet to be arrested.

Regional Commander (Ag), Assistant Commis-sioner Simon McBean yesterday said that the police are still looking for him.

Both victims suffered a gunshot wound. The suspect was identified as Kennard Jabar (age, address and occupation unknown).

Investigations revealed that there was a fight between two 16-year-old school girls from the area. As the fight was taking place, the two women intervened and attempted to separate the girls in an effort to de-escalate the situation. According to eyewitnesses, it was at that point that the suspect who was at the scene drew a handgun from his waist and fired several shots in the direction of the two women. As a result, they both suffered a single gunshot to their right and left hands, respectively. It is unclear if the suspect is affiliated with any of the victims or the school girls.

After discharging the firearm, the suspect escaped on foot. The victims were immediately taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital by public-spirited citizens, where they were treated for their injuries and discharged.

It was reported that an unknown male who was in the suspect’s company retrieved the spent shells from the scene and escaped with them.
