Sophia man gets three and a half years over drugs, gun, ammo

Romeiro Hutson, a 25-year-old of Lot 345 ‘D’ Field, Sophia was on Friday

convicted of narcotics, gun and ammunition offences and will spend three years and six months in jail.

A release yesterday from the police said that Hutson was convicted of unlawful possession of ammunition and fined $200,000 and sentenced to three years imprisonment.

He was also convicted of unlawful possession of a firearm and fined $200,000 and sentenced to three years imprisonment

On the count of possession of 498 grammes of a drug for the purpose of trafficking, he was fined $448,200 and sentenced to three years and six months imprisonment.

He appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court, where the magistrate ordered that the sentences are to run concurrently.

Hutson was represented by attorney-at-law Dexter Todd and associates while the matter was prosecuted by one of the Police’s special prosecutors.
