File completed on GRA bond break and enter – Region Six commander

Commander of Region Six, Shivpersaud Bacchus yesterday said that a file has been completed and advice will be sought as it relates to the break and enter at the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) bond located at Corriverton, Corentyne.

On Monday when asked about the situation, Bacchus directed Stabroek News to the force communication arm (CCU). However, at a regional press briefing yesterday Bacchus was asked whether there was any active investigation in connection with the break and enter at the GRA location and he would only say that “a file was completed and it gonna be sent for advice.”

Asked what was stolen from the location, Bacchus said that he could not comment on that and directed Stabroek News to the CCU once more.

He was also asked as to what makes this break and enter different from others as the GPF would often release all information for the break and enters, robberies, and other matters, Bacchus said, “It’s a government one…”

Stabroek News on Saturday reported that several security guards had been held after the GRA  bond at Corriverton, Corentyne was broken into on Thursday.

Sources said that a quantity of liquor including Hennessy, Johnny Walker, Ciroc and Grey Goose was stolen.

The thieves got into the bond via the roof, sources say.

Some of the alcohol had been found at the homes of the guards and also at the abode of a businesswoman.  She and a hire car driver had also been taken into custody.
