A report from the police said that initial investigations revealed that the motorcycle was proceeding north along the western drive lane while the motor van was also proceeding in the same direction behind the motorcycle. It is alleged by the driver of the motor van that the rider of the motorcycle made a sudden right turn across the road into the path of the motor van resulting in a collision.

As a result, both the rider and pillion rider fell on the road and sustained injuries. They were both picked up by public-spirited citizens and rushed to the Skeldon Public Hospital where the man succumbed while receiving medical attention.

The woman remains hospitalized and her condition is listed as stable.

As of yesterday afternoon, police said the driver of the motor van remained in custody assisting with the investigation.
