New Vision Labs greenlighted by EPA

New Vision Labs Inc has received its environmental permit from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), following an application that was made in June this year. The permit details that the company’s operation at 176 Middle Street, Georgetown does not pose a threat to the environment, thus exempting it from undergoing an Environmental Impact Assessment.

According to an EPA public notice,  the project is a small medical facility which will in no way negatively impact the surrounding environment. In addition, the project is situated in a commercial area, and it is not in an environmentally sensitive location.

New Vision Labs Inc submission to the EPA included a floor plan of the building and what it houses, project summary, and details on the safety measures put in place. The four-storey laboratory building contains 14 rooms, seven washrooms, a lunchroom, an admin floor and two waiting areas.

The investment cost of the New Vision Labs Inc is $103,000,000, the proposal stated, with an annual rate of production being $215,707,988. At the time when the project summary was created, it was estimated that 17 individuals would be employed at the company.

With regard to health and safety of employees and visitors, the company, being a medical facility, had proposed that its infectious waste (nasal swabs, syringes, cotton wool, gauze, gloves, shoe covers) would be collected and disposed of by Puran Bros. The non-infectious waste, it said, would be placed in bins provided by a waste disposal company.

The project summary also pointed out that New Vision Labs Inc is a new facility which is being housed in a building that has been in existence for over three years. It added that renovations were made to the building.

New Vision Labs Inc offers medical technology and laboratory services to the public, such as blood tests and x-rays, at a cost. Ultrasounds and pharmaceutical products are also available at this medical facility.
