(Trinidad Guardian) Despite a reward offer of $20,000, police have received no credible leads into the whereabouts of missing Penal businesswoman Christina Adsett.

Adsett should have celebrated her 61st birthday last Saturday but instead, her husband Kelvin and daughter Kelly Adsett remained in deep anguish about her mysterious disappearance from her Suchit trace, Penal home.

In a Facebook post, Kelvin shared his frustration over the slow pace of investigations.

“People, please share, we are coming up to five weeks and have no clues to her whereabouts. You can make a report to any of these services. Penal Police Station, Anti-kidnapping team, Hunters’ Search and Rescue,” Kelvin wrote.

He also said there was information that Christina had been seen alive.

“Missing you Christina. Try and get home please,” he wrote.

Christina’s daughter Kelly also shared her pain on Facebook, writing: “Happy 61 birthday mum. I miss you more than words can explain. I’m so broken without you and each day gets harder and harder without you. I love you so much.”

She added: “There is a hole in the world, which I find myself constantly walking around in the daytime, and falling at night. Your smile is like the warmth of the morning sun. I never give up looking for you. I will do everything in my power to have you home!”

A friend of the family, Edward Moodie, told Guardian Media that following the offer of the $20,000 reward, they received news that Christina was spotted in the United States.

However, Moodie said this was not possible, as Christina’s passport, visa and other documents are still in her home at Suchit trace, Penal. He said Christina was always conscious of security and would never leave without telling her family.

Christina went missing on September 11. She was last seen cleaning the front of her property, which housed her residence and her business, Christina’s Foot Spa. Neighbours said she was wearing brown pants and a yellow T-shirt at the time of her disappearance.

Two days later, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) contacted the Penal police to verify information suggesting that Adsett had been kidnapped and murdered. Upon visiting her home, the police found the back door open, but there were no visible signs of forced entry. Christina’s cell phone and car keys were discovered inside the house.

Penal police said the investigation is still active even though search and rescue teams were no longer combing the areas around the house. Anyone with information on her disappearance can call Crimestoppers at 800-TIPS or 349-8548.
