Olympian Aleka Persaud went into action yesterday in the women’s 100m freestyle heats and despite turning in another decent performance to cop second place in her heat, failed to advance beyond that stage. Persaud clocked one minute 0.96 seconds behind Grenada’s Tilly Collymore (59.87secs) but their times were well off the qualifying spots.

Raekwon Noel also entered the pool in the men’s 800m freestyle final and finished 11th out of a field of 14. Divided into two timed races, Noel finished third in his race with a time of 8 minutes 34.68 seconds but that time was only good enough to land him 11th overall.

Both swimmers dive into action today, Persaud in the women’s 50m freestyle heats and Noel in the men’s 400m individual medley.
