More optimism in the media today than 20 years ago

Dear Editor,

As I peruse the online newspapers (Stabroek News, Kaieteur News, Guyana Times and Guyana Chronicle) I noticed that the pessimism of some 20 years ago in Guyana has been replaced by optimism today. This can be attributed to the hard work of the PPP/C under President Irfaan Ali and Prime Minister Mark Phillips in promoting Guyana positively. The economy is booming; we are more united than 20 years ago which is a good thing socially. And politically, while the PNC led Opposition is opposing, they are not slo’ fyah, mo’ fyahing Guyanese.

There are still some naysayers who see jumbie in everything that the PPP/C does and have totally lost objectivity. Progress needs to continue to reap the benefits of economic, social and political stability. The President’s style seems to be direct consultations with the people to help resolve their daily problems which bodes well for Guyanese. However, he needs to go the extra mile and consult with the political opposition, the Unions and Civil Society (NGOs).

Sincerely,

Sean Ori
