Bartica Secondary crushed defending champion Wismar/Christianburg 3-0 when the Limacol Secondary Schools Football League, which is being coordinated by the Petra Organisation, commenced yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

Reiver Reid bagged a second-half double in the 53rd and 69th minutes, while Billy Smith opened the scoring in the 40th minute.

Meanwhile, Chase Academy and Carmel Secondary recorded wins. Chase Academy dismantled East Ruimveldt 6-0. Recent recruit Bevon Jones recorded a first-half double in the 13th and 20th minutes, while Bryan Wharton tallied a second-half brace in the 51st and 53rd minutes.

Adding goals in the 35th and 60th minutes apiece were Justin Alcindor and Omar Sam. On the other hand, Carmel Secondary downed Mackenzie 2-0. Shem James and Samuel Ferguson etched their names on the scorer’s sheet in the ninth and 11th minutes, respectively.

Also, Ann’s Grove and Santa Rosa played to a 1-1 stalemate. Neron Jerrick handed Ann’s Grove the initial lead in the 11th minute, while Reshon Campbell equalised for Santa Rosa in the 57th minute. The event, which will be played primarily at the Ministry of Education grounds, will feature the eight schools battling over the course of seven weeks in a one-round championship.

The first, second, third, and fourth-place prizes are $300,000, $150,000, $75,000, and $50,000, respectively. On the individual side, the resulting Most Valuable Player, Highest Goal Scorer, and Best Goalkeeper will also be awarded.
