Widely regarded as one of the best ever local to ride a bike, Stephen Vieira is ready to defend home turf.

Sitting second on the table in terms of points standings in the Super Stock Bike category, Vieira has been thorough in his preparation and that has given him confidence ahead of tomorrow’s showdown at the South Dakota Circuit. Vieira will seek to outshine the overseas-based Team Mohamed’s riders.

“I’m ready to give my all on race day and defend home turf, so come out and see some thrilling and exciting racing,” he declared.

The Continental Group of Companies, through their Torginol Paints Inc., brand, has thrown their support behind Vieira as his exclusive sponsor for tomorrow’s ENet Caribbean Clash of Champions.

On Thursday at a presentation at Continenta;’s head office at the Industrial Site, Ruimveldt, Sachin Puri officially announced Torginol’s sponsorship of Vieira.

Puri stated; “Through this sponsorship of Stephen, we’re looking to keep growing Guyana’s sports culture. As you know, we previously had a partnership with the CPL (as the Official Paint). We’re looking to continue with these activities, growing out the social side of it and getting everybody together to have a good time.”

“We want to see Stephen leaving his mark on the track, and ‘brushing’ past all his opponents with some good results.”

Vieira thanked the company for its  support, noting that Torginol has always been in his corner.

Meanwhile, James Westmoreland, Lee Jackson and Dan Linfoot, all from the UK, arrived in Guyana and will suit up for Team Mohamed’s. It is Westmoreland and Jackson’s first time competing on Guyana’s shores while Limfoot previously raced in the country back in 2019.

The trio are all confident of closing out the podium spots but will be up against several Guyanese riders, table topper Matthew Vieira and Kevin Persaud, who will all be looking to ensure that the Golden Arrowhead remains on top.

Races will get underway at 11am while qualification is on from 1pm today. Tickets are presold and can be purchased from the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club office on Albert Street, Imran Autoworks on the West Bank of Demerara and the Choke Gas Stations on the East Coast of Demerara. Pre sold tickets for adults are $3000 and $1000 for children. At the gates on race day, adults will have to pay $4000 while the children’s price remains the same.
