Consultancy contract signed for gas to energy transmission lines

Minister within the Ministry of Public Works, Deodat Indar, representatives from the Office of the Prime Minister, STANTEC and the Gas to Energy Task Force were present at the signing on Thursday of the Supervision Consultancy Services Contract for the construction of the 230 kV and 69 kV Power Evacua-tion, Interconnection and Substation Distribution Systems for the planned 300MW CCGT Power Plant Project.

A release from the Department of Public Information (DPI) said that the Gas to Energy (GTE) Transmis-sion Lines and Substations project aims to have the transmission and distribution systems constructed to facilitate reliable power evacuation from the 300 MW CCGT Power Plant Project to the existing national power grid (Demerara-Berbice Inter-connected System – DBIS).

The project is being developed in the vicinity of the west and east banks of Demerara, East Coast, and Georgetown.

The Engineering, Procurement and Construction contract for the works was awarded to Kalpataru Projects International.
