USAID reps visit Norton at Congress Place

USAID representatives on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to PNC/R Leader Aubrey Norton at Congress Place, Sophia where they learnt more about the opposition’s role in geo-politics and also provided updates on upcoming initiatives in Guyana.

Regional Representative of USAID Mervyn Farroe explained that the organisation will soon be launching a new five-year, farmer-to-farmer programme which will see US-based volunteers on technical assignments to provide hands-on training to communities, cooperatives, agri-businesses and educational institutions in Guyana.

He was accompanied by Program and Strategy Director Stephanie Mikulasek, General Development Director Steven Fondriest, Deputy Program Director Jessica Hernandez, Program Development Specialist Chloe Noble, Government to Government Advisor Mansfield Blackwood, and Senior Technical Advisor Philip Schwehm.

Norton’s team included Vice Chairman of the PNCR and Shadow Minister of Agriculture Vinceroy Jordan, CEC Member of the PNCR and Shadow Minister of Local Government Ganesh Mahipaul, General Secretary of the PNCR Dawn Hasting-Williams, Deputy Mayor Linden Dominique Blair,  Councillor Georgetown Mayor and City Council Tahirih Adams, and Economic Advisor to the Leader of the Opposition Elson Low.

USAID leads international development and humanitarian efforts to save lives, reduce poverty, strengthen democratic governance and help people progress beyond assistance.
