Guyanese basketball player victorious on collegiate circuit

Guyanese national basketball player Israel Yaw recorded his second win of the season as the University of Maryland defeated the University of Pennsylvania 83-30 on Saturday in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) at the Hytche Centre, Maryland.

Yaw, who played nine minutes in the fixture, failed to score, though he contributed one block and two rebounds in the positive outcome.

In his previous outing, the team lost to Longwood 61-80 on November 15th. Yaw tallied six points and three rebounds in 15 minutes of play. On November 11th, the team defeated Cairn University 83-65. He accumulated 10 points and four rebounds in 28 minutes.

In his campaign opener on November 6th, Yaw lost 65-85 to Temple University. Yaw attended ASA College and appeared in 22 matches. He averaged 12.5 points and 8.4 rebounds per game during his junior-collegiate career.
