MCYS onboard with National Senior Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships

The Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation Inc. received a timely shot in the arm yesterday for its flagship National Senior Championships next Saturday, thanks to the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports (MCYS).

During a meeting at the Main Street boardroom with members of the federation and some of the athletes, subject minister Charles Ramson Jr. stated that the cash incentives for the top placers will be covered by the ministry. The magnitude of the support is just south of the $2 million mark.

The president of the federation, Keavon Bess, and the athletes present thanked Ramson for the kind gesture ahead of the December 2 event, which is scheduled to be staged at the National Cultural Centre, Homestretch Avenue.

This year’s championship, which gets underway at 19:00hrs, will be the last senior event before Guyana hosts the CAC Bodybuilding Championships next October. As a result, the December spectacle has been dubbed ‘The Clash of the Baddest’ since all CAC hopefuls will grace the stage.

Athletes

The athlete’s registration has commenced, with several elite musclemen and women already confirming their participation. Among the confirmed athletes for the much anticipated ‘Clash of the Baddest’ are reigning Mr. Guyana Bodybuilding Champion Darious Ramsammy, reigning Mr. Guyana Men’s Physique Champion, and CAC Gold Medalist Emmerson Campbell. Reigning Ms. Guyana Bikini Champion Hannah Rampersaud, CAC 2023 gold medalist Nicholas Albert, and CAC 2023 silver medalist Julio Sinclair CAC 2022 medalist Christina Ramsammy, reigning Novice Bodybuilding Champion 2023; Anthony McLean, reigning Intermediate Champion; Seon Budhan, reigning Novice and Intermediate Bikini Champion; Melitha Anderson, reigning Novice and Intermediate Champion; Vanisha Munroe, and many more senior athletes

Segments

On the night of the competition, there will be in excess of 30 athletes competing in the five different segments of the competition. These are: bodybuilding; men’s physique; bikinis; wellness; and fitness.
