Three men in custody over murder of Unity woman

Three men are now in police custody in relation to the murder of Chooromanie Tulsie, who was found in her home at Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, according to Crime Chief, Wendell Blanhum.

On Wednesday, the body of 38-year-old Tulsie, an accountant, of Unity, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, was found in the bottom flat of her house with a knife stuck in her neck.

Investigations revealed that the incident occurred sometime between 19.30 hours on November 21, and 08.00 hours the next day.

At around, 08.00 hours, Tulsie was found dead in the lower flat of her house. She was lying on the ground with a piece of cloth stuffed inside her mouth and a knife stuck in the centre of her throat. She was clad in a multi-coloured night dress.

The body was escorted to the Nabaclis Hospital where Tulsie was officially pronounced dead after which it was taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home to await a post mortem examination.

Investigators canvassed the area for CCTV cameras and several persons were interviewed during the ongoing investigation.

According to the dead woman’s sister, it is believed that the perpetrator might have been known to the woman since no valuables were taken.
