Marian Academy boots holders North Georgetown from Girl’s Pee Wee Football

A new champion will be crowned in the MVP Sports Girl’s Pee Wee Football Championship as Marian Academy defeated titlist North Georgetown 2-0 in the semi-final section yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

Skylar De Nobrega was the difference, as she recorded a brace in the 25th and 35th minutes. Marian Academy will now face off against St. John the Baptist in the final, after the latter defeated West Ruimveldt 2-0 in their final four encounters. The combination of Shemia Hing and Neisa Lewis found the back of the net in the 27th and 31st minutes, respectively.

In the 5-8 plate section, Potaro downed Smith Memorial 2-0. An own goal in the first minute opened the scoring, while Nazeema Lewis netted in the 18th minute. Continuing in the same segment, Tucville dismissed Friendship 3-1. Wolete Griffith crafted a hat-trick in the second, 10th, and 18th minutes. On target in the loss was Queen-Nefer-Tarie Elias in the 39th minute.

In the 9-12 Plate Division, F.E. Pollard defeated St. Aloysius via walkover, while One Mile edged Genesis 1-0. Faith Higgins recorded a conversion in the 35th minute.

The 7th iteration of the event is slated to conclude on December 9th. The winner of the event will receive $150,000 towards a school project and a trophy, while the second, third, and fourth-place finishers will receive $100,000, $75,000, and $50,000, respectively, towards a school initiative and the corresponding accolade.

On the individual side, prizes will also be awarded for the eventual Most Valuable Player, Highest Goal Scorer, and Best Goalkeeper.
