CARICOM says some online applications `breached’

The CARICOM Secretariat yesterday said that some of its online applications have been “breached”. For this reason, its website and other applications have been placed offline until further notice.

When Stabroek News contacted the Secretariat, a source there  related that the discovery was made when a strange post was made on the platform, allegedly by someone who is outside of those responsible for the said platform. The official also explained that there is very limited access to the workings of the platform.

The official noted that the decision to temporarily go offline with CARICOM’s website and other applications came in light of the “times that we’re in” and the need for cautiousness on the part of the Secretariat. The name of the platform and the contents of the post that was discovered were not revealed to this newspaper.

In a press statement that was issued yesterday, apologies were expressed for any inconvenience caused. It was also noted that the Secretariat’s telephone and email remain unaffected and active. As such, members of the public wishing to contact the Secretariat can do so at telephone number (592) 222-0001 or via email at registry@caricom.org.
