West Dem Jags, GT Panthers name squad for DCB T20 tourney

West Demerara Jaguars and Georgetown Panthers have officially revealed their squads for the impending Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) T20 Blast, with national all-rounder Akshaya Persaud and Demerara Senior Inter County player Devon Lord named as captains of the respective teams.

Persaud will skipper the West Demerara outfit, which also comprises Richie Looknauth (vice-captain), Ushredeva Balgobin, Navindra Persaud, Narendra Persaud, Jamal Gomes, Mahendra Dhanpaul, Nkosi Major, Kishaun Tracy, Sachin Balgobin, Dinesh George, Nityanand Mathura, Sheldon Alexander, Elyan White, and Khandaiya Ramkarran.

On the other hand, Lord’s Georgetown Panthers are made up of Shemroy Barrington (vice-captain), Raymond Perez, Brandon Jaikarran, Adrian Hinds, Jonathan Van Lange, Ovid Richardson, Emanuel Lewis, Shamar Apple, Steven Sankar, Ronald Ali-Mohammed, Carlos LaRose, Keon Morris, Omesh Dhanram, Dwain Dick, and Leon Andrews.

The other association teams, the East Coast Canje Pheasants, East Bank Eagles, and Upper Demerara Scorpions, will be announced shortly before the event’s commencement on Saturday at the famous Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ground in Bourda.

Each association will be required to select a minimum of two under-19 players who are eligible to represent Guyana next year in regional U-19 tournaments, with at least one of the individuals playing everay game. Players must represent the area they reside in, with the exception of Upper Demerara, which will allow guest players drawn from the standby players of the other associations.

The team with the most points after the preliminary rounds will play for fourth place, while the second and third-placed teams will clash in the semi-finals. The respective winners will battle in the final, with the losing semi-finalists competing in the third-place playoff.
