US House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries says he is “deeply disturbed” at efforts by the Nicolas Maduro regime to infringe upon Guyana’s sovereignty.
In a statement yesterday, the New York Congressman said: “The aggressive action undertaken by the Maduro regime to infringe on Guyanese sovereignty is deeply disturbing. I stand with the Biden administration in calling on Venezuela to respect the territorial integrity of Guyana. Peace and stability in South America and the Western Hemisphere are critical to America’s national security. Accordingly, the rule of law must be maintained in the region. Lawlessness and authoritarian aggression should never be tolerated”.
In recent months, Jeffries has had engagements with both the Guyana Government and the opposition.
