Other angles in helicopter crash probe

Dear Editor,

A recent standard-type demand/request by the GTUC (Guyana Trades Union Congress) in Stabroek News (1212/2023, pp.,10, 18) ‘GTUC calls for thorough probe of fatal helicopter crash’, calling for a thorough probe of the recent fatal Bell 412 EBI utility helicopter disaster should be regarded as strategic and this is not an overestimation.

Additionally, the following could also be evaluated:

         Recommended variant(s) or injections of Avgas as well as rotor/flange lubricants or oil mineral detergents (?) -, utilised by the GDF (Guyana Defence Force) helicopter.

         The maintenance routine and also regulations for tropical/sub-tropical rainforest climate change geographies; recommended for territories such as the Cuyuni-Mazaruni and the Essequibo-Potaro.

         Any reported crashes or in-flight deviations over the recent decades within the Military/Airforce/Search and Rescue or civilian/private operations of the Bell 412 EBI helicopter.

          Upgraded GPS and operational experience re: climatic/weather volatility, again, within the same geography as stated above.

         Access to training manuals and routine overhaul advisories provided for ground service units in local sites (Philippines. Trinidad, Dominican Republic, Indonesia), and other western hemisphere territories that have acquired other Bell 412 models, or special performance prototypes of the GDF helicopter.

Thanking you,

Lawrence Rodney
