Police are investigating the murder of Dwayne Byass called ‘Eddo’, a 27-year-old self-employed of Golden Fleece, West Coast Berbice, which occurred at about 12:50 hrs today at Middle Street Paradise, WCB.
A police release said that enquiries disclosed that on the date and time mentioned, Byass and the 26-year-old suspect Nascio Allen were at a shop playing dominos during which the two had an argument and a fight ensued. Allen then pulled out a knife, allegedly stabbed Byass in his abdomen and ran out of the shop.
He was seen running away with a knife in his hand. Byass who collapsed in the shop was picked up by his cousin and rushed to the Mahaicony Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival by Dr Samaroo.
The body was examined and one wound was seen on the abdomen.
After the incident, the suspect went to the Weldaad Police Station and stated that Byass attacked him with a piece of wood and Byass ran into a knife which he (Allen) had in his hand. He was arrested and placed into custody.
