Golden Fleece man, 26, remanded over dominoes murder

A 26-year-old Golden Fleece, West Coast Berbice labourer was yesterday remanded to prison after he was charged with the murder of a 27-year-old man who he is accused of stabbing while playing dominoes in Paradise, West Coast Berbice.

Nascio Allen yesterday appeared at the Weldaad Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Peter Hugh where he was charged with the murder of Dwayne Byass on December 19.

Allen was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge and was remanded to prison. He will return to court on January 5th for statements.

Byass also known as ‘Eddo’, 27, self-employed of Golden Fleece, West Coast Berbice was stabbed just around 12:50 hrs on Tuesday at Middle Street Paradise, West Coast Berbice.

According to information gathered, Byass and Allen were at a shop playing dominoes when the two had a sudden argument and a fight ensued.

Allen then reportedly pulled out a knife, stabbed Byass in the left side of his abdomen, and ran out of the shop with the knife in his hand.

Byass who collapsed in the shop was picked up by his cousin and rushed to the Mahaicony Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His body was examined and one wound was seen on the left side of his abdomen.

After allegedly committing the act, Allen went to the Weldaad Police Station and turned himself into the police, claiming that Byass attacked him with a piece of wood and the now-deceased ran into a knife which he (Allen) had in his hand.
