D’Urban Backlands vendor shot

A 31-year-old vendor, Quason Leacock, of D’Urban Backlands Squatting Area, Georgetown, is now hospitalized nursing a gunshot and chop wound. The incident occurred at approximately 15:00 hours last Thursday and involved three attackers.

Police investigations revealed that Leacock was at home alone when two suspects who Leacock said he knew by their nicknames ‘Tallman’ and ‘Buck’ arrived at his home. He said ‘Tallman’ approached him in an aggressive manner and asked him if he had a problem with them. The police report stated that ‘Tallman’ pulled a handgun from his waist and fired a shot hitting Leacock on his left thigh. ‘Buck’ then dealt Leacock a chop to his foot with a cutlass. Both men then escaped. The victim was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital by public-spirited persons where he was examined by a doctor and admitted in stable condition.

The police report also stated that the victim admitted to not knowing his attackers’ addresses and while the report did not provide any information on the alleged third person in the attack, it stated that several persons were questioned and checks made for the suspects without success.
