BCQS Squash Masters Championship serves off on January 31st

The 2024 edition of the BCQS Squash Masters Championship will be staged from January 31st to February 4th at the Georgetown Club facility, Camp Street.

Deje Dias, Tournament Director, said in a brief comment, “It’s an international tournament that is sponsored by BCQS, which is in many countries. This is a veteran’s tournament, which usually means over 40, but we have special permission for over 30 because we have a lot of players in that age group, and they said once we are willing to put in the work, we can do it because the community wanted it, so we know we have the backing.”

He further said, “This tournament usually pushes master’s squash in the Caribbean because there are practically no other master’s tournaments other than the Caribbean Championships and this tournament. We are getting players from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, BVI, Barbados, and Trinidad and Tobago. We potentially have a player from Pakistan. Master’s squash, and this tournament in particular, is a second bite at glory. For me, who had a good junior and decent senior career, it’s a good tournament, and many other players view it that way. Because of tournaments like this, we have a very heavy master’s influence, especially in the Caribbean.”

The categories that will be contested in the tournament are: men 30-35; 35-44; 45-54; 55-64; and over 65, while the ladies will compete in the over 35 segment. The registration fee for local athletes is US$50, while the international registration fee is US$100.
