Colonel Skeete appointed defence attachè at embassy in US

Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Colonel Julius Skeete has been appointed to serve as Defence Attachè at the Embassy of Guyana in the United States.

A release from the GDF said that Colonel Skeete was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Force in 1990. Throughout his years of service, he has held various significant positions, including Officer Commanding of the Signals and Information Technology Department, Force Communications Officer, and Commanding Officer of the Training Corps. Before his recent appointment, he held the post of Colonel General Staff.

Skeete is a graduate of the Senior Command and Staff Course, the US Army Signal Officer Advance Course, the US Army System Automation Officer Course, and the US Army Command and General Staff Course, among others.

His civilian education includes a Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Arts in Strategic Studies from the US National Defence University -College of International Security Affairs.

In his new capacity, the release said that Skeete is set to play a pivotal role in bolstering the execution of military, defence and security responsibilities for the country.
