The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) was crowned the Women’s 1st Division League champion, defeating arch-rival the Guyana Police Force (GPF) by a 2-1 score-line yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

In what was a battle of undefeated sides, GDF broke the deadlock in the form of Glendy Lewis, who opened the scoring in the 20th minute.

However, the GPF equalised in the form of Annalisa Vincent, who found the back of the net in the 36th minute. Nevertheless, GDF would record the go-ahead winner in the 52nd minute, as recent recruit Jalade Trim etched her name on the scorer’s sheet.

The tournament also featured participation from the Fruta Conquerors, Santos, and Pakuri Warriors.
