Day two of Harpy Eagles Trial Match rained out

Torrential rainfall over the course of Tuesday night and yesterday morning forced officials to abandon the second day of the Guyana Harpy Eagles practice match between Matthew Nandu’s XI and Antony Adams’ XI on Wednesday at the Meten-Meer-Zorg ground on the West Coast of Demerara.

On Tuesday, Adams had won the toss and elected to bat but the side did not make it beyond the second session, bowled out for 144 after lunch as spin twins Steven Sankar (3/19) and Richie Looknauth (4/41) ran riot.

In reply, skipper Nandu (43) and Raymond Perez (41) along with wicket-keeper batsman Kemol Savory (21 not out) and Shamar Yearwood (9 not out) to guide their side to 119/2 (44 overs) at stumps. Junior Sinclair and Adams ended the day’s play with figures of 1/23 (13 overs) and 1/26 (10 overs) respectively.

An official from the West Demerara Cricket Association told Stabroek News that once good weather prevails, today will see action bowl off from 9:30AM.
