‘Iswe’ deported from Suriname to face murder charge

Shaquawn Alleyne known as ‘Iswe’, arrived in Guyana yesterday morning to face charges over the 2021 murder of his girlfriend, Shonette Dover.

He was handed over to the Guyana Police Force and is assisting with investigations.

A police source told Stabroek News that Alleyne was transported on the Guyana-Suriname ferry by heavily armed Surina-mese police officers yesterday morning. He was handed over to local law enforcement and escorted to CID Headquarters in Georgetown.

Alleyne, who was wanted for the murder of Dover in April 2021 at Wismar, Linden, was arrested in Suriname on Thursday.

According to Waterkant, a Suriname media outlet, Alleyne was arrested by members of the Regio Bijstand Team Paramaribo. The report also noted that Guyanese police had a strong suspicion that the suspect had fled to Suriname in order to avoid arrest.

In 2021, Alleyne allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend, a bartender, of Canvas City, Wismar, Linden. Dover was reported missing and her partially decomposed body was found in her yard at Canvas City.

Police, acting on information, went to the yard and dug up the area and at about four feet down they stumbled upon the partly decomposed body of a female.
