As play continued in the West Demerara Cricket Association (WDCA) Jits & Neelam-sponsored 40-over cricket competition, national players Akshaya Persaud and Richie Looknauth played starring roles with the bat as they led Cornelia Ida Cricket Club (CICC) to a 10-wicket thrashing of Wales at the Meten-Meer-Zorg Community Ground.

Wales won the toss and elected to bat after rain reduced the game to 30 overs. Their decision ended in them being bowled out for 107 in 20.4 overs, with only Keevin Lindo showing some fight with 23 not out.

Bowling for CICC, Harrinarine Bissoondyal took 2/15 in six overs, while Safeek Deonarine captured 2/24 in his five overs.

In response, Persaud smashed an unbeaten 63 while Looknauth ended on 43 not out as the pair chased down their target in just 10.4 overs to cap a dominant victory.

Meanwhile, over at Bellevue, hosts Bellevue Sports Club batted first against the McGill Superstars and recorded 127/6 in their allotted 32 overs (reduced due to rain), with Randy Ramroop (37), Kevin Plant (21) and Devon Harris (16) all getting starts.

Bowling for the visitors, the McGill Superstars, Navendra Persaud claimed 2/13 and was well supported by Travis Persaud, who returned figures of 2/24.

Needing just 128 for victory, the McGill Superstars eased to a 5-wicket win with Ronaldo Renee (34), Diquan Murray (22), and Travis Persaud (20) leading the way as their side ended on 131/5 from 23.5 overs. Due to wet pitches and waterlogged outfields, games at Canal #2 and Zeelugt were called off.
