Wales thrash Leonora in ‘Jits and Neelam’ 40-over Cricket

Wales crushed Leonora by seven wickets when the ‘Jits and Neelam’ 40-over Cricket Championship continued on Sunday at the Canal #2 Sports Club ground.

This was confirmed by a release from the West Demerara cricket association. Batting first, Leonora posted a formidable 250/4 in the reduced 30 over encounter. 17 year old Shazim Alli recorded an unbeaten 106 which was littered with nine boundaries and two sixes. Supporting with 66 [1×6, 9x4s] before retiring hurt was Imtiaz Hack. Chandrika Persaud was the main threat with the ball with figures of 2-31.

In response, Wales stormed to the target of 251/3 in 26.1 overs. U19 standout Bishan Ramsar led the successful pursuit with an undefeated 141. Over at the Belle Vue facility, La Grange All-Stars defeated Zeeburg via walkover.

The event continues this Sunday at the Zeelugt ground with the final group stage encounter between Cornelia Ida and Leonora.
