The cream of the crop in Guyana’s amateur boxing arena will exchange blows at 18:00hrs tonight when the bell rings for the Guyana Boxing Association’s (GBA) Senior Developmental Tournament at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue.

The card, designed by the GBA in place of the Terrence Ali National Open, which has been suspended this year due to unknown circumstances, will give Guyana’s Olympic hopefuls a chance to get much-needed in-ring action ahead of a number of qualifiers for the Paris Games.

Yesterday, medical officials along with GBA’s technical staff held the usual weigh-in process at the same venue, which saw a number of senior pugilists and coaches in attendance.

In a previous interview, President of GBA Steve Ninvalle stated, “By carefully planning and implementing critical steps, you can create a weighing-in process that is fair, transparent, and supportive of the athletes’ journey towards the 2024 Olympic Games qualification.”

Fighters from gyms such as Rose Hall Town Jammers, the Forgotten Youth Foundation, the Guyana Defence Force, and the Guyana Police Force boxing gyms will be on show.
