Krishna Dindayal appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Friday before Magistrate Leron Daly where he was charged with larceny.

It is alleged that on January 4, while at New Market Street, North Cum-mingsburg, Georgetown, he stole one Samsung Galaxy cellphone valued $150,000 belonging to Mohamed Shadeek.

Dindayal pleaded guilty with explanation.

Investigations revealed that Shadeek had lent the phone to Dindayal to make a phone call since he was hungry.

The man then left without returning the cellular phone. He later returned the phone in the presence of police officers.

He was fined $80,000 or four months’ imprisonment.
